2003. The award program seeks a talented author with the energy,
skill, and drive to successfully promote and sell his or her
non-fiction book. The contest winner will possess three important

energetic public speaking skills; and superior sales skills.
Prizes are as follows: 1st Place, a Royalty Contract and PR campaign
having a combined value of $7,500; 2nd Place, a $250 cash award; and
3rd Place, a $150 cash award. The first place award shall only be
awarded as a $500 advance, publication of the book, and PR campaign.
WordWright.biz, Inc. and the Writers' League of Texas will award the
prizes at the 2004 Agents Conference. To apply, visit

If you have "a quality and marketable work" why in the world would you
enter a fee-charging contest for a (possible) $500 advance?

Best,
Jim

Best,

Unfortunately most contests charge admission fees and are supported by
those fees. See _Writers Market_ and _Poets Market_ for listings of
contests.
Some are more meaningful than others. A poet who wins the Pushcart
prize has something to brag about.

If I wanted to enter a contest or compete for a prize I would do my
research down at the library first. A solicitation in a newsgroup
would hardly attract my attention.
