I got this today

Dear Sir/Madam

This letter is not intended to to cause any embarrassment but just to
contact your esteem self-following the knowledge of your high repute and
trustworthiness

I am Alhaji Mohammed Abacha, the son of the late Nigerian Head of State who
died on the 8th of June 1998.If you are conversant with world news, you
would understand better, while I got your contacts through my personal
research .Please,I need your assistance to make this happen and please; do
not undermine it because it will also be a source of upliftment to you
also. You have absolutely nothing to loose in assisting us instead, you have
so much to gain.

The then head of state General Sani Abacha, transferred the money through a
Lebanese businessman,Chagoury and a Jewish businessman,Mark Rissar to bank
accounts overseas,Instead,he used PERSONAL IDENTIFICATION NUMBERS (PIN) and
declared the contents as Bearer Bonds and Treasury Bills. Also the firm
issued him with a certificate of deposit of the consignments notes, which I
have these information in my custody now.

You must have heard over the media reports and the Internet on the recovery
of various huge sums of money deposited by my late father in different Banks
and security firms abroad. Some of these banks and security firms willingly
gave-/divulge their banking secrets and disclosed to the present civilian
administration of Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, about my family's cash lodgement
and monetary transactions with them.

Please my dear,I repose great confidence in you and I hope you will not
betray my confidence in you.I have secretly deposited the sum of
$30,000,000.00 with a security firm abroad whose name is withheld for now
until we open communications. The money is contained in a metal box
consignment with Security Deposit Number 009GM.

I shall be grateful if you could receive this fund into your Bank account
for safekeeping. This arrangement is known to you and my junior brother
(Abbas) only. So I will deal directly with you.I am proposing a 25% share of
the fund to you for your kind assistance. I shall provide for you all the
documents of the fund deposit with the security firm, and raise a power of
attorney to enable you claim and receive this fund into your bank account.I
have done a thorough homework and fine-tuned the best way to create you as
the beneficiary to the funds and effect the transfer accordingly. Is rest
assured that the modalities I have resolved to finalize the entire project
guarantees our safety and the successful transfer of the funds. So, you will
be absolutely right when you say that this project is risk free and
viable. If you are capable and willing to assist, contact me at once via
email: ***@REDIFFMAIL.COM for more details.

Also this transaction demands absolute confidentiality. On no condition must
you disclose it to anybody irrespective of your relation with the person.
Remember, Loose lips sinks ship.
I am looking forward to your urgent and positive response via my email
above.
Best Regards,

Alhaji Mohammed Abacha.

Not so luck us. Why did you see fit to post the whole bloody thing?
Please learn to trim and not to top post. Not all Outlook Express users
are top-posters; but all top-posters are Outlook Express users. It's
becoming an immutable law of the Usenet.

excuse me, for my inexperience in posting to this group. I did not know that
there was a set proceedure to this. I have seen it both ways. As i subscribe
to different newsgroups, i have trouble keeping up with the protocol of each
one.
Question if I may: where may I find the FAQ for this group? As for which
mail program I use, what difference does it make? An as for snipping the
messages, if it is top posted, why bother? I'm just trying to understand
what I did wrong that made you so unhappy?
BTW, I did recognise your name from the shelves at Borders. Frogive me for
being a neofyte on this. I do question why this was originally posted
without the customary marking OT that I find in other newsgroups since this
is not about writing fraud.

There is only one RFC that covers all ng hierarchies and that RCF1855
therefore the simple request to trim to salient points and add comments
underneath does not have to be a feature of any FAQ. FAQs are a focussed
refinement -- not a replacement, although some ng, such as
alt.usage.english are so pissed off with top-posters undermining
Usenet's essential forum nature, that they reiterate the posting
guidelines in their FAQs.

Inconsiderate posting, and that includes your inclusion of my signature
in your follow-up, is not off-topic in any newsgroup. If you must use
Outlook Express, at least get one of its many non-Usenet compliant
features fixed by running the QuoteFix patch.

A Vivisimo, Teoma! or Goggle search using "top-posting" will reveal many
truths.

Tip: use http://homepage.ntlworld.com/stejonda/search.html
as your browser's home page. This will list over 100 useful search
engines, including the brilliant Vivisimo, and databases on one page.

No, you are wrong there news. I am a confirmed top poster (because I care about people and have
good manners) but I use Netscape. Go on - be mature and brave and do the right thing by putting
your stuff at the top where people can read it without having to wade thru all the crap that
gone before. Sometimes it doesn't hurt to NOT be one of the sheep

"Top posting" is bad writing form: the reader(s), if any, have to hunt
to see what the hell the writer is talking about.

Oh I get them all the time... I use the Outlook Express RULES to pick up key
words in the text and copy them to a Scams folder...

Some of the words for those are...
Africa & Nigeria
Zimbabwee
etc...

I hear this scam is as old as mail/pre email days... and often they want to
share money with you they have got from ripping off a country or
relatives.... I've had such a variation of them...

THOSE DAMN MICROSOFT SECURITY patches are the ones I get at least every 2nd
day... and they have a virus in the attachment... I have never ran one... as
I know its suss... I tested a few of them by sending to my hotmail account
and then went to download attachment... it then does a virus check... (the
free way... I got no money for them to steal ...lol) but should I really be
laughing... lol... why not? lol

Hehehe

Microsoft doesn't send attachments with their security patch notices.
They ask you to click over to the Microsoft site and download the
patches from there.

Those "fake" notices are spit out by the virus itself knowing that the
more naive will click on any attachment allegedly sent by Microsoft.

Oh, yeah. I think those nice Nigerian men think highly of me. Even one of
their doctors trusts me enough to want to use my bank accounts for some
money that the government wants to take away from his family.

(Anybody need a bridge?) LOL
